Steve Whitehorn, Managing Principal

Passionate about Architecture and Design, Steve Whitehorn has dedicated his successful practice to helping Architectural and Engineering Professionals reach their goals, and grow a more profitable future.

After graduating from Lafayette College with a degree in Business and Economics, Steve worked for Massachusetts Mutual for several years before joining Whitehorn Associates, a practice his father started in 1978.  He continued to grow the business under Arthur Whitethorn’s guidance until 1995 when he took over the day-to-day operations, and re-branded the company Whitehorn Financial.

Drawing from over 20 years of experience, Steve created The A/E Empowerment Program™, an exclusive 5 step process that systematically provides practice and risk management solutions to minimize risk, increase profitability and speed up cash flow, specifically designed for Architectural and Engineering Firms of all sizes.

Steve has consistently been recognized within the Professional Liability Insurance industry through numerous achievements, along with qualifying as a member of the Million Dollar Round Table, the premiere association for Financial Professionals.

Steve has been published extensively in numerous Architectural publications, and has provided seminars to both clients and design associations on an array of topics, including The A/E Empowerment Program™, BIM/IPD, and other specialized Risk Management topics.

Steve remains active in his hometown of Madison, New Jersey. In early 2007, he was appointed to Madison’s Downtown Development Commission by its Mayor, and co-chairs the Public Improvement Committee. In addition, Steve also finds time to coach girls’ soccer and softball.

Steve, a traditionalist, enjoys the time-honored tradition of backyard barbecuing on his ‘well seasoned’ charcoal grill. And despite occasional visits by the local fire department, Steve is always happy to share his fine-tuned grilling techniques with all interested parties.

Jim Thomas, Senior Advisor

Jim has been involved with the consulting engineering and architectural industry for over 40 years. He has retired recently as CEO of a midsize E/A firm that served clients in the MD, DE, PA and VA areas. He has a vast knowledge of the industry, through many years of project management and dealing with public and private clients and having been the national Chairman of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC). He is a registered professional engineer and Fellow of ACEC.

Jim often comments that it is remarkable how many times firms face similar problems, but don’t conceive and implement sound solutions. He believes that the A/E Empowerment Program provides firms with immediately implementable and measurable methods to address these problems. The A/E Empowerment Program’s success is rooted in developing the right solutions and the monitoring and feedback to clients after the report and presentation are accomplished. The feedback to our clients is done in a measured manner and on a timely basis.

Jim is eager to help people in the A/E industry and he believes that his association with Whitehorn Financial will provide additional resources to meet the needs of the A/E professional. He looks forward to having the opportunity to assist A/E firms in enhancing their business development, efficiency and profitability.
